Title tags help people find you when doing a search!


I had came across a series of videos that I found very useful.
I have decided to add them to the site for those of you who have
an easier time learning by listening and watching tutorials




"This is what is called . . .a Title Tag"

A summary of a web page.
It is a “Simple one line title” that describes the web page.
It should not be a long list of key words.
If you are trying to promote your Business, Services or Products
on the Internet you need to have a website.
Although, your website will not be very beneficial to you if it is not
reaching your intended audience. Your targeted market group
needs to be able to find you during a search.
Title tags, are one way to help make that happen!

Why they are important:

  • They give search engines an idea about the content on the web page.
  • Each page will represents itself as a hyper link through it’s title
  • They appear as the URL hyper link on the main page of a search result.
  • It will show in the top left had corner of the browser.
  • They give the user an idea of what they will be finding on the page

Where and how to edit a Title Tag

  • It will be towards the top in the source code of your web page
  • You will see it listed as <title>Name of your page</title>
  • Be sure to only change what is in the middle do not disturb the part of the code that looks like this <title> </title>
  • Do not leave the space blank or as an untitled document

Important aspects on writing a good Title Tag

  • Each web page should have a unique Title Tag written for it
  • It needs to be useful information for a visitor and the search engines
  • It should not be a generic statement such as “Welcome to my page”
  • It should not be the Domain Name
  • It should be written concisely and makes sense to the reader
  • It should describe the content of the page
  • It should be 63 characters or less in length so it can be read in full
  • It should include a Key Word or Key Phrase relating to the web page
