When they are looking in a specific area it generally means they have a need for something or at the very least they are curious about the product or service they are looking at.
In simple terms think of it this way...
If a person needed to buy milk they wouldn't go to the hardware department. The same goes for the ads they see on a web page or in the isle at the store. If they are buying milk and saw a display of nails sitting beside the milk, chances are they wouldn't buy them.
However... if they saw cookies or maybe a powdered mix that flavors milk sitting there, then yes they would have more of an interest in buying the product being advertised.
Do you see where I am going with this?
Humans are such creatures of habit and we enjoy things being convenient for us. We are also easily prompted to buy items when they are in front of us.
Think about this...
How many times do you go to the store for bread and come home with numerous bags full of stuff? The reason is simple. You have to walk past many items to get to what you want and they have special display racks set up to catch your attention.

Things to Consider:

• Ads not pertaining to what people are looking for usually get ignored
• We want your money to be spent wisely and have your ad be seen by
  people who are looking for your product or service.
• Your Ad will be placed on the specific page that pertains to your
  business. (Look through our directory to see which category will be the
  best fit for the product or service that you have to offer. If there isn't one
  that is a good match let us know, I am always looking to improve the
  site and I am more than willing to ad more options.)

Guide Lines on Advertising:

• The amount of ads per page will be limited:
1. People can get overwhelmed and frustrated when a page is too cluttered.
2. I do not want to have excessive competition between our members.

• The size of the banners need to be 125 x 125:
1. Banners the same size will allow for a few more per page
2. This will also give a uniform look to the page

• The appearance of a banner must be appealing:
1. Tacky or offensive banners make people leave a page faster
2. This is a professional site, the look must fit that

• Flash banner are not allowed:
1. They can be very distracting
2. They can be annoying
3. They can really slow a site down.

• Banners URLS:
1. They must open in a separate window. People are less likely to come back if they close out the site accidentally
2. They must go to the original website you submitted
3. Any banners found taking people to a different website or an
   inappropriate site will be deleted immediately and your
   membership will be in jeopardy of being terminated.

We are still working out the details for this advertising program...

One of our main concerns is making this program affordable for our members.
Given the fact that we are going to limit the amount of banners per page,
we are trying to figure out a good time frame for the ads to be displayed.
This way the ads are changing on a regular bases to keep them fresh in the
eyes of the readers yet I don't want them changed daily either. Again we will
have this put into place in the near future. We will put a notice in the recent
post area when it is ready to go so be sure to check back for the updates.
